Andrew Rae (VIC) Player of the Year 2007
After Andrew Rae won
our prestigious award
as Player of the Year in
2006 he has continued with outstanding
performances through the past year.
Therefore there was no surprise that
Andrew would win this award as Player of
the Year in 2007. Currently Andrew is the
World 55 Men’s Singles Champion as well
as the Australian, European, German, British,
Austrian and Hungarian Champion.
He was Captain and member of Australia’s
successful 55 Age Group Austria Cup team
that won in South Africa and then again
in Turkey in 2007. In both of these Teams
Championships he remained undefeated in
singles. No wonder Andrew is regarded by
many judges as the number one player in
the World in his age group.
Andrew had previously won our Player
of the Year Award in 2003 and 2006,
which reinforces his reputation as a
great Australian Senior player. He had
previously won the World Seniors Singles
Championships in 1999 2001 2002 2006
and 2007. Member of the Perry Cup team
over the years 2001 to 2005 our Australian
player’s were runners-up in the years 2001
2002 and 2003 — to finally win this Cup
in 2004 and 2005. Then when Andrew
graduated to the 55’s he has continued this
amazing performance in being a member
of the team to win the Austria Cup in 2006
and now again in 2007!! One can hardly say
more than pay tribute to a truly remarkable and talented player.
