Raymond Fitz-Gerald (VIC)
Administrator of the Year 2007
Ray Fitz-Gerald was
Treasurer of Tennis Seniors Victoria for
eight years when he was able to build up
a sound portfolio of financial reserves for
the future operation of the Division into the
21st Century. Since then over the last four
years as President he has been involved
in all aspects of the Division overseeing
the smooth running of the business of the
Division including its major championships
and social round robin events.
He has been the Division’s delegate on
Tennis Victoria’s Council and delegate
to Tennis Victoria’s Club Forums and
Management Groups. Ray has been a
Council Member for a number of Tennis
Clubs in Victoria and he has developed
a rapport and understanding with many
people in the tennis world. Since the
mid eighties he has actively supported
Senior’s tennis in Australia through his
playing participation and his support
for the administrative activities. Over the
years Ray’s expertise has been invaluable
particularly in the induction of new
personnel onto the Victorian Senior’s
Divisions Board of Management as they
occurred each year.
Over the last 12 months Ray has exercised
oversight on the planning for the National
Championships to be played in Wodonga
in January 2008. Ray was involved in the
conduct of these Championships when last
held in this city in 1999 so his experience
from those times has been invaluable in the
planning period of this year’s event.
