The Tennis Australia Awards is a new initiative with the following categories:
- Coaching excellence – High performance
- Coaching excellence – MLC Hotshots
- Coaching excellence - club
- Junior athlete of the year
- Volunteer achievement award
- Most outstanding 35+ senior
- Excellence in officiating
- Most outstanding athlete with a disability
Timeline
- Nominations open – 15 October 2010.
- Nominations close – 5 November 2010.
- The award is for the current calendar year
- Successful award recipients, and unsuccessful nominees, will be notified by Tennis Australia during the week of 15 November.
- The Awards Night will be held in Melbourne on 3 December 2010.
Eligibility Criteria for Most Outstanding 35+ Senior
Open to male and female players and administrators who are or have been members of Tennis Seniors Australia.
To be eligible for consideration for Most Outstanding 35+ Tennis Senior, the nominees must meet the following criteria:
- Continued involvement in 35+ seniors tennis over a prolonged period of time whether it be as a player or administrator or both;
- Assisted in raising the public profile of 35+ seniors tennis through demonstrated excellence in playing performance, or administration or both;
- Demonstrated behaviours that exhibit a high level of integrity.
All entries must supply a minimum of three high-resolution photos and/or video footage supporting their nomination.
Selection process
The selection panel will be made up of:
- Tennis Seniors Australia Executive Committee Members
- Coordinator of Seniors Tennis from Tennis Australia
- National Programs Manager from Tennis Australia.
All decisions in relation to the Most Outstanding 35+ Tennis Senior award (including any questions in relation to eligibility) will be determined by the selection panel in its absolute discretion. All decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
