Over 30 and interested in tennis?
Welcome to the world of seniors tennis, where our mission is
to increase the playing opportunities and social interaction for
tennis players of all standards over age 30.
Seniors tennis in Australia is booming. Seniors tennis
competitions are played in all Australian States and up to 1000
players compete each year for the Teams Trophy at the Australian
Tennis Championships. In the individual Championships,
players compete for the honour to represent Australia at the
ITF Team World Championships.
Why is Seniors Tennis so successful?
Tennis is a sport that we can play for a lifetime
however, as one player said "it's always nice to play
someone your own age". Seniors tennis
competitions are divided into five-year age groups
starting at 30 years.
If you ever needed inspiration to get off the couch
and pick up a racquet, you need go no further than our
more senior players. Australia currently has some
of the best octogenarian tennis players in the world,
with the late Doug Corbett (pictured) the 2013 World Champion
in the 85+ age group. |
Seniors play for the love of the game, the enjoyment of the
social life and the health that they maintain by playing tennis.
If you would like to register your interest in joining, we will
