Notice is given that the 52nd Annual General Meeting of Tennis Seniors Australia Incorporated will
be held by electronic communication (Zoom) on Saturday 13 February 2021 at 11:30am AEDT.
States/Territories Delegates are invited to attend, the number of Delegates determined by the
number of entitlements to vote. Observers, who may speak but are not entitled to vote,
may also attend and will need to apply to the Secretary for an email link to the meeting.

In yet another piece of tennis good news, it
has now been announced that the
TSQ
Mixed Teams Classic in January 2021 will be
proudly supported by Major Events Gold Coast. For
those attending this event who might want to
know
what to do and
where to stay while on the Gold Coast, then
Major Events Gold Coast (known simply as
"Austalia's Gold Coast") have all the answers.
Want to know what venue softball will be played
at? Or perhaps how old you have to be to
participate in dragon boat? The answer to these
and many more sport specific questions (venues,
age groups and divisions, rules, previous
results, etc.) can now be found at the
Australian Masters Games website. The sport
specific information pages are now LIVE for over
30 sports, with other sports to be
updated progressively
TSQ President Gail Bates is happy to announce that we have

Tennis Seniors Queensland Presidents Report for 2020

TSQ President Gail Bates has produced the 2020
Annual Report - the fifth and last in her
capacity as President.
The year certainly
started with a bang in January as Queensland
again won the Australian Teams Trophy, this time
in the picturesque WA city of Busselton. Things
went downhill from there with the impact of
Covid-19 putting a stop to all competition
tennis until July.
In accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of Tennis Seniors Queensland Inc, the Annual General Meeting
will be held at: Queensland Tennis Centre, 190 King Arthur Terrace, Tennyson on Wednesday 2nd December 2020 at 4:30pm.

And with today marking just 400 days to go, the countdown is on to "Play Time in Perth"… on the
sporting arena, the dance floor and in nature’s playground.
Norfolk Island Veterans Tennis Championships April 2021

Sadly, the 2021 Nolfolk Island Verterans
tournament has been postponed indefinitely.
ITF World Seniors Championships (50,55,60) Boca Raton April-May 2021

Due to the ongoing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and in consultation with tournament stakeholders,
the decision has been taken that the ITF Seniors (50-55-60) World Team & Individual Championships will
not be held as scheduled in Boca Raton & Palm Beach Gardens, USA in April-May 2021. The safety of
everyone involved remains our priority and our efforts will now be focused on securing an alternative
for hosting the event in 2021.
Toowoomba & District 55th Annual Veterans Tournament

The 2020 Toowoomba & District 55th Annual
Veterans Tournament will be held at the Toowoomba
Tennis Association centre from the 3 - 5 October.
Entries are now open and will close 27th
September.
The 2020 Brisbane Seniors Tournament
will be held at
the RLTA courts at Cleveland and the Wynnum Tennis Centre
from the 22-23 August.
Entries are now open and will close 16 August.
Following independent research and feedback from national associations, advisory panels and players,
the ITF will introduce two new age groups; 30 plus and 90 plus from January 2021.
The 2020 Bundaberg Seniors 41st Tournament
will be held at
Drinan Park Tennis Centre
from the 7-9 August.
Entries are now open and will close 2 August.
Fraser Coast Council Hervey Bay Seniors Tournament

The 2020 Fraser Coast Council Hervey Bay Seniors Tournament
will be held at
79 Colyton Street, Torquay
from the 31 July to the 2nd August.
Entries are now open and will close 26th July.
Seniors tennis returns to Queensland. The 2020
Living Choice Mooloolaba Seniors Tournament will
be held at 112 Lady Musgrave Drive, Mountain Creek
from the 17-19 July. Entries are now open and will
close 13th July.
Tennis Queensland are
pleased to announce
the
Industry COVID Safe
Plan for Outdoor
Sports has been
approved by the
Queensland State
Government. The plan
allows for tennis
venues to operate
programs with up to 10
people per court, as
per the exemption
request submitted by
Tennis Queensland.
This change will allow
multi-court and
multi-use venues to
host multiple groups
(no more than 20
people per group) on
site at your venue at
one time, with strict
compliance measures in
place.
ITF Extends Suspension of
International Tournaments through
July 31

The International
Tennis Federation
(ITF) has extended the
suspension of all ITF
tournaments through to
July 31, 2020, due to
the ongoing COVID-19
pandemic. All ITF
circuits and event
categories scheduled
to take place during
the newly extended
period are suspended,
including ITF Juniors,
ITF Seniors, UNIQLO
Wheelchair Tennis
Tour, Beach Tennis
Tour and the men’s and
women’s ITF World
Tennis Tour.
In response to the
ongoing COVID-19
pandemic, the ITF has
suspended all Tours,
including the ITF
Seniors Tour until 13
July 2020. This
includes the
postponement of the
ITF Seniors (50-55-60
years) World Team &
Individual
Championships which
had been scheduled to
take place In Boca
Raton and Palm Beach
Gardens, USA from 26
April to 9 May 2020.
Due to the ongoing
global impact of the
COVID-19 pandemic, it
has not been possible
to achieve the
criteria set for the
event to be
rescheduled in 2020,
and as such the ITF
Seniors (50-55-60
years) World Team &
Individual
Championships will not
be held in 2020.
Tennis Queensland is
constantly requesting
updated health advice,
and the latest
received directly from
Dr Jeanette Young,
Queensland Chief
Health Officer
commends our sport for
taking a proactive
stance to help prevent
any further spread of
COVID-19. It has been
confirmed that the
current recommendation
of Tennis Queensland
for clubs to cease
operations is in line
with the current
public health
direction;
Queenslanders must
minimize the number of
people they come into
contact with and
individuals should
only leave their home
if it's absolutely
necessary. As we
have communicated, our
strong recommendation
to Queensland clubs
and coaches is to
temporarily cease
tennis operations
while the impact of
this pandemic is being
managed across the
state.
In response to the
ongoing COVID-19
pandemic, the ITF has
issued a Press Release
suspending the Seniors
Tour through to 13
July 2020. At
present, tournaments
taking place from 13
July 2020 onwards are
still planning to
proceed as per the
published schedule.
The ITF will continue
to review the COVID-19
situation with the aim
of resuming ITF events
as soon as it is safe
to do so. Further
updates will be
provided in due course.
Following the running
of successful
tournaments in 2019,
several Australian
Tournament Directors
applied to the ITF
Seniors Committee for
an upgrade of their
tournaments.

Queensland Board of
Directors has come to
the decision that we
need to act in the
best interest of

Cancellation of TSQ Claycourt Championships and ACT Seniors Championships
ITF tournaments due to Coronavirus.

The ITF have postponned the TSQ Claycourt Championships in Ipswich 4-7 April
and the ACT Seniors Championships in Canberra at Easter 10-13 April due to
the Coronavirus (COVID-19). You can view the details in the Press Release below:
The Sunshine Coast Veterans Tournament will
be held at the Washington Street Nambour, Yandina Tennis Courts,
Palmwoods Tennis Courts, Nambas Tennis Courts, Woombye Tennis Courts
17-19 April, 2020.
Entries will close on 10 April 2020.
The ITF have sent a brief to
all ITF Seniors Tournament
Directors regarding the possible
impact of the novel coronavirus
(COVID-19) outbreak with a
reassurance that the safety and
welfare of players, support staff
and tournament staff remains
paramount to the ITF. The ITF will
continue to monitor the situation
in consultation with independent
medical and travel advisors,
particularly in areas where ITF
events are taking place, and are
prepared to take any necessary
measures based on expert advice.
Tennis Seniors Queensland have won
the Australian Teams Championship
for the third year in a row. TSQ
President Gail Bates was almost in
tears and lost for words when it
was announced that Queensland had
won. She was quick to thank the
Queensland players for their
efforts this past week and paid
tribute to the Western Australian
Seniors for organising what has
been a superb week of tennis on
the Busselton and Bunbury grass
courts.
Max Bates inducted into the Australian
Seniors Tennis Hall of Fame

At the Annual Tennis Seniors
Awards Dinner, a Queensland legend
in the form of Max Bates was
inducted into the Australian
Tennis Seniors Hall of Fame. Max
has won a host of Australian and
World Seniors Titles in his career
but being the humble champion that
he is, he was quick to acknowledge
the support of his devoted wife
Gail. Tennis Seniors Queensland
congratulates and salutes such a
worthy recipient.
At the Annual Queensland Dinner,
President Gail Bates announced
that the recipient of the Tennis
Seniors Queensland Senior of the
Year for 2019 is Ian Somers. Ian
is a tennis tragic who plays
regular tennis fixtures in the
Brisbane Seniors competition
whenever he is not hiking through
the European Alps with his wife
Jan. He first represented
Queensland at the Australian
Championships on the Gold Coast in
2004 and was hooked.
He has not missed an opportunity
to be part of this wonderful event
