events, should players wish to
participate in these during the

Australian Teams Carnival in
Busselton in January 2020 it is
important to make your social
bookings now as final numbers are
needed for catering purposes.
Bookings close on Monday 30th
December.
Important Message to players entering the ITF Australian Championships in Busseton in January 2020

If you are moving into the next age group in January you will be unable to complete your ITF IPIN entry until after
1 January, 2020.
ITF are having a slight issue and the problem will be fixed by this date.
This will not affect the entry deadline of 7 January for this tournament.
TSQ President Gail Bates has
recently put pen to paper (more
likely fingers to the keyboard) to
document the 2019 year for Tennis
Seniors Queensland. It certainly
started on a high, with Queensland
winning the Australian Teams
Carnival in Shepparton in January.
Lets hope the teams going to
Busselton, WA in January can
defend the title.

2020, the State Dinner is now being
held at Euinox, 1 Foreshore
Parade, Busselton (near the Jetty)
on the TUESDAY evening. The change
of date allows people to attend an
evening with Margaret Court on the
Monday being arranged by TSWA.

teams playing at the Australian
Teams Carnival in Busselton in
January (WA2020) have now been
announced. Congratulations to all
those players and best wishes for
the event.
For those Queensland players
attending the Australian Teams
Carnival in Busselton in January
2020, the State Dinner is being

Information on bus transfers
from Perth Airport to Busselton is
now available. Buses can
only booked after 30 September,

for the 2020 Australian Teams
Carnival. In the 35-70 age groups
teams may consist of 5-6 players
and in 75+ age groups up to 7
players. Age groups for both Men
and Women will be in 5 year
increments.

Circuit Changes document has
been prepared following
consultation with several
groups. These include the ITF
Seniors Player Advisory Panel
and newly formed ITF Seniors
Tournament Director & Referee

The 2019
TSQ Sunshine Coast Seniors
Championships
will be held from the 20-23
September on the synthetic
grass courts at Tewantin and
neighbouring centres. Entries close on
10th September.
The
2019 Brisbane
Seniors Tournament
will be held from the 24th to
the 25th August on the
synthetic grass courts at the
Cleveland and Wynnum Tennis
Centres. Entries close on
18th August.
Tennis Seniors Australia and Tennis Australia have recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding
which required each party to undertake certain actions, culminating in the calling of a general meeting
of TSA to consider a resolution that the national body of TSA be wound up and its surplus funds distributed
to the State and Territory seniors divisions. This meeting will be held on August 22.
The ever popular Bundaberg
Seniors Tournament will this
year be extended to a
three-day event starting on
the Friday. The tournament
will be held from the 9th to
the 11th August on the clay/granite
courts of the Bundaberg &
District Tennis Association at
Drinan Park. Entries close on
4th August.
Living Choice Mooloolaba Seniors Tennis
Tournament

The 2019 Living Choice Mooloolaba Seniors Tennis Tournament will be held at the
Mooloolaba Tennis Club from 19 to
21 July. Entries will close on 8th
July.
The website for Busselton 2020 (Australian Championships) is nearly ready to launch,
but the Accommodation links are available now. The Margaret River and Busselton Tourism
Association advise that the rates are competitive for the time of year. There is also still
plenty of availability on Airbnb.
The 2019 Redcliffe Masters Tournament will be
held at the Redcliffe Tennis
Centre on the 31
May - 2 June, 2019. Entries are now open and
will close on 24th May.
Tennis Australia (TA)
representatives, Bruce Osborne
and Travis Atkinson, have been
presenting some Adult and
Seniors Tennis information to
all Tennis Seniors Divisions
over the past 8 weeks. Based
on the availability of key
stakeholders six Division
presentations have been
completed as at 10 April.
In 200 days thousands of
masters athletes will descend
upon Adelaide for a week long
festival of sport and
entertainment. With over 45
sports on offer and a lively
social program there truly is
something for everyone. Enter
now during the Gold entry
period and you'll receive a
special gold accreditation
pass, a commemorative 17th
Australian Masters Games pin
and you'll get to skip the
queue at the accreditation
centre. Gold entries close on
Wednesday 1 May.
The 2019 Sunshine Coast
Veterans Tournament will be
held over 26-28 April at
Yandina and Woombye tennis
courts. Entries are now open
and close on 18th April..

Busselton & Bunbury to host 2020
Australian Championships

Tennis Seniors WA (TSWA), in
partnership with Tennis West
have announced that the 2020
Australian Seniors Tennis
Championships will be held in
the State’s South West, with
Busselton and Bunbury Tennis
Club set to co-host the
prestigious event.
Brisbane Seniors Tennis Club
is running a trial day for
people interested in playing
in Brisbane Seniors Tennis
fixtures. The trials will be
conducted on Sunday 3rd
February from 9 - 11 am at two
venues: Queensland Tennis
Centre and Morningside Tennis
Centre.
Gail Bates awarded Life Membership of
Tennis Seniors Australia

TSQ President Gail Bates was
awarded Life Membership of
Tennis Seniors Australia at
their recent AGM in
recognition of her many years
of services to Tennis Seniors.
Gail was one of three
recipients, the others being
Enid Besant-Ryan (ACT) and
Robyn Castle (NSW), all of
which are icons in our sport.
Queensland wins Australian Teams Carnival

At the recent Australian Teams
Carnival in Shepparton,
Queensland have again claimed
the Teams Trophy. It is the
second year in a row for
Queensland, having won it in
2018 on the Gold Coast.
TSQ will be conducting three
ITF Seniors Tournaments in
Queensland in 2019. As well as
the TSQ Championships in July
and the TSQ Sunshine Coast
Seniors Championships in
September, the will be TSQ
Claycourt Championshipsto be
held at the George Alder
Centre in Ipswich in April.
